Friday Fun – Free things to do with your family

by admin on October 19, 2012

It’s a busy Saturday around town, which is great because it looks like it might be raining and cold. There are plenty of things to do to keep the kids engaged and entertained.

Do your kids love movies?  Head to the Galaxy Cineplex Entertainment theatre for Community Day on Saturday in support of Starlight Children’s Foundation. Doors open at 8:30 am with a great selection of FREE movies beginning at 9:00am. Plus, enjoy a regular popcorn, regular fountain drink and selected candy for only 2 DOLLARS each with 100% of the proceeds donated to Starlight Children’s Foundation! Here’s this year’s lineup:
Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D  9:00 am
How to Train your Dragon 9:15 am
Hugo 3D 9:30 am
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol  9:45 am
Kung Fu Panda 2 3D  10:00 am
Puss in Books 10:15 am

At 2:30 pm on Saturday, celebrate science week at the Library Main branch. Kids ages 7 and up are invited to learn all about the science behind photography with the Let’s Talk Science workshop on Photography.

Come on out to Steckle Farm for a fun filled FREE family day on Saturday, October 20th! Entertainment provided by the Strathyre Highland dancers, Irish Dancers, JD Magic, and Erick Traplin!  Play games, make a craft, learn how to milk a cow, and get your face painted by a fabulous artist from Bre Creative!  Emily Beatty Imagery will be on site, ready to take some amazing family photos for you, with packages stating at only $15.  Meals and snacks will be available to purchase, so pack your boots, smiles, (and maybe a hat!), and come have a great day!

Elora’s Monster March Parade is this Saturday evening beginning at 6:30! Get dressed in a scary costume and join the march — or watch from the sidelines sipping hot chocolate! The parade marches from MacDonald Square down Metcalfe along Mill to Melville! Either way, it’s an event not to be missed!
