On Saturday at the Library’s Main Branch there’s a special treat at the Main Branch. Come at 10:30 am for a special program with LIVE Birds from Wild Ontario for children ages 5 years and up.
Also on Saturday, from 10 am – 3 pm head to the Home Depot Parking lot for the Guelph Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Day event. There are plenty of things for families to do. Have your picture taken on an antique fire truck, meet and speak to firefighters, as well as Sparky the fire dog. You can tour the fire safety trailer and learn how to safely escape from a smoke-filled home, or learn how to safely put out a fire using a fire extinguisher. There are also Fire Safety seminars taking place at 11 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. to learn how to prevent fires in your home.

Guelph Lake Nature Centre is hosting a Reunion and Open House Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
Bring the family for an afternoon of exploring nature, playing games and learning (while having fun) about our outdoor world. Did you or your child attend GLNC on a school trip or summer camp? Or, have you always wondered about nature centre? Then this event is for you! Outdoor games, nature activities and presentations throughout the afternoon. Those 16 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
Guelph Hiking Club has a Kids Hike on Starkey Trail beginning at 1:00 pm. There will be 90 minute tortoise and hare hikes. Please register with Kathy at 519 836-9147 and visit www.guelphhiking.com for more information.
If you are looking for an indoor event, the KWAG (Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery) has Family Sunday from 1 – 4 p.m. Spend the afternoon with friends and family exploring the world of art and creativity. Enjoy the exhibitions, make one-of-a-kind artwork, take part in drama workshops, and listen to stories read by Kitchener Public Library staff. This program is best suited for children ages 4 – 12 and their adult companions. For more information please visit the website.
There is also the Guelph Studio Tour happening all weekend. If you have some art lovers, this is a great way to meet up with other artists in the community! It’s also a great way to squeeze in a little Christmas shopping.
