The forecast is for a rainy weekend. Luckily there are plenty of opportunities for free indoor fun. Head to the Library’s main branch on Saturday morning for Fall Fun for ages 2 to 6 years old. The program starts at 10:30 am. At 2:00 at the Main Branch teens are invited to the Teen Movie: Snow White & the Huntsman PG-13. Also at 2:00 pm, over at the Westminster Branch, kids ages 9 to 14 are invited to a Drawing Comics Workshop.
For a last taste of summer visit Greenway Blooming Centre Breslau for their Butterfly Days. This special annual event will run Saturday and Sundays in September from 11 am to 4 pm each day. The Monarch Butterflies are already starting to gather for their long journey to Mexico. Kids can take part in this amazing migration by releasing your very own butterfly into the wild. Each Monarch is marked with a special tracking tag on it. Through the Monarch Watch program, at the University of Kansas, this tag is used to track its migration and information is sent back the participants if their butterfly is found in Mexico.
If you are looking for a party on Saturday, head to the Old Quebec Street Mall for Latino Fest from 6-11pm. Dance, sing, eat and learn about the many communities that make up our exuberant Latin Community. The Hispanic & Latino Council of Guelph-Wellington promotes community with a great family oriented festival. Guelph’s Latino Fest is our way of saying thanks to Guelph for being our home and we throw a big party to show our appreciation.
