At the East Branch this morning there is Bouncing Babies for Birth to 18 months, beginning at 10:30 am. Also at 10:30 the Main branch has  Mother Goose Storytime Birth to 5 years. 

Thursday, September 6

Tonight is 26th Guelph Scouts Registration night from  4-7pm at the Community room at Kortright Hills Public School, 23 Ptarmigan Dr.   

Friday, September 7

Little ones are invited to the Main branch this morning at 10:30 for Imagination Station for children from birth to 5 years.

This week’s performers: Brent Rowan 
Brent Rowan  is a director, performer, composer and educator of music. A Guelph based saxophonist, who also plays flute, clarinet and other woodwind instruments, Brent performs in a wide variety of musical collaborations; from 2009 Juno Nominated Eccodek, Big Bands and small jazz combos, to classical chamber groups and creative music ensembles.

Saturday, September 8

On Saturday morning, the Galaxy Cinema hosts Cineplex Family Favourites at 11 am. Watch a family favourite film each week for only $2.50. A portion of proceeds go towards supporting Starlight Children’s Foundation. This week’s feature:  Pee-Wee’sBig Adventure Eccentric man-child Pee-Wee Herman embarks on the big adventure of his life across the US mainland, as he sets out to find his beloved bike, when it is stolen in broad daylight. Kids Can Knit!
Join friends at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 8th at the Westminster Square Branch for the ”Kids Can Knit” program. Bring needles if you have them, and a friend for some extra fun.

Come out and enjoy the 172nd Aberfoyle Fall Fair and Tractor Pull. Saturday’s activities include a midway, kids races and activities, a pie eating contest, birds of prey shows and Old Macdonald’s farm. For more information please visit the Aberfoyle Fall Fair website.

Visit Greenway Blooming Centre Breslau for their Butterfly Days. This special annual event will run Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm each day. The Monarch Butterflies are already starting to gather for their long journey to Mexico. Kids can take part in this amazing migration by releasing your very own butterfly into the wild. Each Monarch is marked with a special tracking tag on it.  Through the Monarch Watch program, at the University of Kansas, this tag is used to track its migration and information is sent back the participants if their butterfly is found in Mexico.

If you haven’t made the trip over to the new Waterloo Region Museum and Doon Heritage Village, it’s worth checking out. There are activities daily in both the historical village and the museum that are lots of fun for kids. You can get in to both sites free if you have a membership to the Guelph Civic Museum.

Back To Nature Walks Every Sunday (including holiday weekends) at the Royal Botanical Gardens; 2 to 3:30 p.m. at locations* noted below.
Come walk with us! Did you know that a walk in the woods reduces stress no matter what your age? Enjoy the great outdoors at Royal Botanical Gardens and spend healthy, active, quality time with your friends and family. Keep an eye out for bald eagles, fox tracks, deer and other seasonal sightings. Every week is a different adventure! NOTE: Our trails are rocky and muddy. Baby carriers work well on our trails, and the kids just love the views! Most trails are not suitable for strollers, except those designed for off-sidewalk use. Dress for the weather and meet your leader at the following locations*:
1st Sunday of every month: Hendrie Valley; meet at Cherry Hill Gate parking lot
2nd Sunday of every month: Princess Point; meet at the parking lot
3rd Sunday of every month: Cootes North Shore; meet at the Nature Centre
4th Sunday of every month: Cootes South Shore; meet at the Aviary parking lot on Oak Knoll Drive, Hamilton 5th Sunday of every month: Rock Chapel; meet at the parking lot
*Please note: The rotation of hike locations has changed from previous years.
*If the weather looks threatening, please check our Program Update Line at 905-527-1158 ext. 404. Weather updates are posted one to two hours before program start time. Fees: Free (donations welcome)

The Donkey Sanctuary Open Days happen from early may until October. The Public is welcome to visit and interact with the donkeys and stroll the beautiful grounds on Wednesdays and Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm, May 6 to October 31.
