Back to School Traditions

by admin on August 29, 2012

Have you got back to school traditions in your family?  Traditions are an excellent way to help kids through transitions and it is never too late to start.

Why not stop by Play with Clay this week and make a new mug to use for after school snacks or drinking tea while doing homework.

Throw a party with some friends to get back in the groove. There are some great ideas here.

Make a simple teacher gift, or write a letter together with your child to introduce yourselves to the teacher.

Make the night before a fun relaxing one. Maybe a special bath, start a new read aloud book, or over dinner make a list of 5 things to look forward to this coming school year.

Use the traditions to help make the day run smoothly. Perhaps a special breakfast that can be pulled out of the fridge or have both parents walk the kids to school. Plan a favourite dinner from the crockpot, or grab takeout so that there is lots of time in the evening to be together.

There’s lots of ideas in our post from last year, and in these blog posts from Bestfamilytraditions.com and Kelly’s Korner.
