When my kids were much younger and I had two little boys who were crazy for anything related to Mighty Machines, one of my favourite sanity savers and their things to do would be to head out to the Guelph Airport to watch the planes. Often we’d share a treat of french fries in the restaurant and I would enjoy the chance to just sit. They loved watching the different planes take off and land and seeing the pilots (the real PILOTS!) come into the building. As they got older the still loved going, learning about the Tiger Boys and even checking out the small unofficial Tiger Boys museum that is housed there.
This weekend the restaurant at the Guelph Airport celebrates its reopening and there will be vintage planes to watch, and probably some pilots to meet. And hopefully some french fries.
The airport is located just off York Road, east of Watson. The celebrations will begin at 9 and run until early afternoon.
