From 10-11 am the Enabling Garden at Riverside Park is hosting its summer workshop for kids entitled ”Using Our Senses in the Garden”. Participants will explore the garden using their wonderful senses. This is how you can communicate with your natural allies. The Kids Garden Workshops are generally for kids aged 6 – 10, but all are welcome and parents/care givers are encouraged to join in. Wellington County Museum Simple Pleasures

This week’s performers: The Earthtones have developed a loyal following in Toronto during their three years together. On Saturday morning, the Galaxy Cinema hosts Cineplex Family Favourites at 11 am. Watch a family favourite film each week for only $2.50. A portion of proceeds go towards supporting Starlight Children’s Foundation. This week’s feature: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splinter, the rat ninja master is kidnapped by the evil Shredder and his gang of hoodlums. 3rd Annual Linamar Transportation Car Show takes place from 12-4pm. Everyone Welcome! Enter a vehicle or just come for the fun. Open to all makes and models, $5 registration fee paid on-site. Live performances by Wayne Langille, Elvis Impersonator, BBQ, 50-50 draw, kids activities, tractor-trailer demos, and truck pull. All proceeds to The United Way. The Car Show takes place at the Linamar Frank Hasenfratz Centre of Excellence at 700 Woodlawn Rd.
The Kitchener Musical Society Band performs at the Riverside Park Bandshell at 7 pm. Donations appreciated. Enjoy your picnic dinner while listening to the band!

All weekend long enjoy the 20th Annual Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival. Family friendly programming includes Jaaz For Kids, a fun and inclusive activity which involves a live performance in the Waterloo Public Square. This show has been a fun and interactive favourite designed for kids aged 3-10. Some of the activities during the show include a sing-along with some classic jazz standards and also some dancing in front of the stage. The ensemble will explore some basic concepts like swing rhythm and blue notes. And of course, they will perform the hit song Vegetable Blues! Performances at 11:30am – noon Friday and Saturday (July 20th and 21st). There is also the Kids Tent where kids can xperience jazz in a whole new way. Play a variety of instruments commonly used in jazz music at the Instrument Petting Zoo! You can register before the festival to receive a FREE lesson with a professional jazz musician. Baby carriers work well on our trails, and the kids just love the views! Most trails are not suitable for strollers, except those designed for off-sidewalk use. The Donkey Sanctuary Open Days happen from early may until October. The Public is welcome to visit and interact with the donkeys and stroll the beautiful grounds on Wednesdays and Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm, May 6 to October 31. Bug and Butterfly University At Greenway Blooming Centre Breslau
Every Sunday and Wednesday afternoon throughout July and August. Fun programs for all ages, created and delivered by John Powers, internationally known as the Butterfly Man® and the Bug Man®.
Along with Marco, John teaches students about the growing and hatching of butterflies. He displays and explains his incredible collection of insects, some of which are entries in the Guinness Book of World Records. Guest speakers are featured as well as artists and photographers.

City splash pads and wading pools are free all summer. Splash pads are located at Hanlon Creek Waverley Park, Norm Jary and West End Community Centre and are open daily from June 28 to September 3, from 11 am-7pm. The city’s wading pools are located at Sunny Acres, Mico Valeriote, Exhibition Parks and are open from June 28 to September 3, from 12-6 pm. The fountain at Market Square at City hall is operational from 9 am to 10 pm daily.
