Canada Day Weekend means lots of free events and celebrations in and around town.
But first, you can start with the Swamp Tromp on Saturday at 10 am at the Rockwood Conservation Area. Explore the water world of Rockwood. You’ll find yourself dip-netting with a naturalist, looking for frogs, fish, and invertebrates near the Harris Mill Ruins. Be prepared to get your shoes wet! The program is free with admission to the park.
On Sunday there are lots of activities to choose from.
McCrae House is celebrating Canada Day from noon until 4 p.m.
Events and activities include military displays and demonstrations, musical entertainment, Highland and Irish dancing, outdoor games, crafts, and, of course, birthday cake! There are also lots of Canada Day events happening in Downtown Elora, including Firemen’s Pancake Breakfast, Soap Box Derby, Parade, Hot Dogs in the Park, Canada Day 5K or 10K Run/Walk Dominion Day Dashes (Kids 12 & under) Rotary Duck Race. If you want to go a little further afield, you can celebrate Canada Day at Waterloo Region Museum and Doon Heritage Village from 9:30 am to 5 pm
Waterloo Region Museum is throwing a party to celebrate Canada Day and everyone is invited! This fun family event include musical entertainment, fun games like croquet and horseshoes. Guests bring your own picnic lunch or purchase a tasty BBQ lunch.
If you would like to add a little music to your day, there is the Summer Concert in the Park from 4-5pm at the Riverside Park Bandstand. Enjoy the music of the Rocky Mountain Band. Donations appreciated.
