Lots happening this weekend

by admin on May 31, 2012

I wanted to highlight some of the fun things happening this weekend, presented to the community on behalf of or by the kids in our community.

On Friday night Sacred Heart School is hosting their annual Carnival from 5:30-9pm.
Every year Sacred Heart’s parent and student council hold a carnival with lots of games, events and prizes to be won! All proceeds go to Sacred Heart school to help purchase for our students and school.  The public is welcome to come.  Sacred Heart Catholic School is located at 125 Huron Street. Please phone for more information. 519-824-2751

The Trillium Waldorf School is hosting a beautiful Chamber music concert at 8 pm on Saturday at Dublin Street United Church. You can check the website for details and ticket information.

KidsAbility is hosting their annual 1KM Fun Run/Walk on Sunday Jun 3 2012, from 12-2pm at the West End Community Centre. Funds raised on this day will help to provide life-changing therapy and support services to over 800 children and youth with special needs in Guelph-Wellington. This indoor event will be held rain or shine inside the arena. Visit the website to download the pledge sheet and brochure.

First Light Theatre is hosting their annual Shakespeare in the Park program this weekend at the The Goldie Mill Theatre behind the Guelph Youth Music Centre.  This year the youth performance group is proud to present William Shakespeare’s the Taming of the Shrew. It is much more than a “battle of the sexes,” it is also a profound look at the absolute necessity of “play” in our lives. Blending romantic comedy and entertaining farce, Shakespeare gives us a love story of liberation for all. Tickets are $12 at Macondo Books or at the door. Performances run June 1st 8:00pm, June 2nd 2:00 & 8:00pm and June 3rd 2:00pm. For more info contact courtney.firstlighttheatre@gmail.com or call 519-836-8498.

I’ll be back tomorrow with Friday Fun listing of all the great free things you can do this weekend.
