Tuesday Make and Do–Back to School

by admin on August 30, 2011

All of the sudden the air seems a bit cooler in the evening and the sun is setting before bedtime, rather than after. School is, amazingly, just a week away and while there still may be some shopping or organizing to do, it’s nice to incorporate a bit of creativity and individuality into the process.  Here are some ideas for crafts, activities and ideas to celebrate the return to school, and maybe quell some anxiety or cure a bit of boredom.

Make It Do has a great idea for a back to school time capsule. What a great way to capture a child’s growth and change over time.

Make some shrinky dink tags to decorate and identify knapsacks, shoes, house keys, pencil cases.

Create some pencil buddies.

Decorate a school work box (pizza boxes would work great as an option) to keep those special papers and projects organized.

Create an art tote to keep those works of art safe on the trip home.

Make some Kissing Hands – a beautiful accompaniment to the back to school story by Audrey Penn.

Organize and personalize back to school supplies with Family Fun’s back to school printables including book markers, book stickers and pencil toppers.

Plan a Back to School Party. There are lots of ideas here, treats to make here and suggestions for games here.

However you plan to savour this last official week of summer, I hope you enjoy it.
